Thought of the day #20
Sometimes I can look back at life and see moments where I should have taken a leap of faith or made a different choice. When that happens I can feel sad or depressed about missed opportunities or a sense of guilt when the choice I made affected someone else negatively. This does not build me up but can lead me to creating a pool of unpleasant emotions.
I am grateful that in the midst of that, I can choose to move forward, letting go of what I can’t no longer control and doing something about what I can.
It’s important to remind myself that when I give too much energy and time to those things it simply is wasted time and energy.
My goal in looking at the past should be to learn from it, not live in it.
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 NIV
