Thought of the day #18
“This is what I think; but, it’s your choice.” That is my usual response when someone asks for my advice about a direction they should take in a particular conflict or situation they are facing.
Sounds good to say, but I must confess that at times my heart gets exposed when they make a different choice and internally I struggle. The fact is I struggle because on some level I expect the person to follow my advice.
God gives me daily feedback, advice, and even warnings on what to do in every situation that I face daily. I sadly don’t always follow his guidance. I react instead of responding to His promptings.
Unlike God’s, my advice or opinion can be wrong. I don’t know what’s ultimately best for a person. God’s guidance on the other hand is perfect. Even with His perfect guidance, he still gives me the freedom to choose. My hope is to not give up on working on choosing wisely; and when I react, do my part to fix the mess left from my bad choice.
“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12 NIV
